Highly anticipated match up of the 2010-2011 NBA Season, the back to back champions, the Los Angeles Lakers vs the Miami Heat!

Derek Fisher turns down Miami offer, stays with the Los Angeles Lakers!

Just goes to show that the new lineup for Miami doesn’t mean shit for some. Even with a huge ass offer, Derek Fisher chose to stay with the LA Lakers. Why leave when you have a founded chemistry with familiar teammates along with 5 rings? It’s a no brainier. Thanks Derek Fisher!

“I have decided to continue with Kobe, continue with our teammates and the fans of Los Angeles,” Fisher said in a statement on his website. “While this may not be the most lucrative contract I’ve been offered this offseason, it is the most valuable. I am confident I will continue to lead this team on and off the court. Let the hunt for six begin.”

The Lakers have won two straight titles and five in Fisher’s tenure with the team. He gets a three-year deal to return, with a player option on the final year. Monetary terms were not immediately available.

The Lakers were waiting for the deal to be completed before announcing anything.

“Nothing is signed yet,” Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said. “We’re in continuous dialogue with [Fisher’s] representative and we hope to announce something soon.”

Fisher, 35, had been courted by the Miami Heat. He met with Miami president Pat Riley and owner Micky Arison at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Miami on Saturday morning where the Heat told him it wanted him to be its starting point guard and to join LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

“I took time to consider all my options, many not reported in the media,” Fisher said. “I listened to every coach, every general manager, even potential teammates in order to make the right decision and I thank every one of them. At the end of the day, there’s one person I could not turn away from.

“Kobe Bryant asked me to stay but supported whatever decision I made. He and I have played together for 11 seasons, came into the league together as kids, and has been loyal to me even when others had doubts. We have won five championships together.”

The Lakers had been in constant contact with Fisher and his representative Rob Pelinka since the free-agent negotiating period opened on July 1, although negotiations had proceeded slowly but amicably.

Fisher averaged 7.5 points and 2.5 assists per game last season, but he stepped up with some big shots in the playoffs, especially against the Celtics in the NBA Finals.

Los Angeles lost free agent Jordan Farmar to New Jersey on Monday, but signed Steve Blake last week. Blake likely will share playing time with Fisher.

Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson Will Return For The 2010-11 Season

Yes! I knew Phil would comeback! It just wasn’t right to walk away just yet. Phil Jackson will return as the Los Angeles Lakers head coach for the 2010-2011 NBA season! Let the back to back title defense begin!

Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach Phil Jackson has decided to return to coach the team for the 2010-11 season, it was announced today.

“Count me in,” said Jackson. “After a couple weeks of deliberation, it is time to get back to the challenge of putting together a team that can defend its title in the 2010-11 season. It’ll be the last stand for me, and I hope a grand one.”

Jackson, who most recently guided the Lakers to the 2010 NBA Championship, their second in a row, has won five titles as head coach of the Lakers. Overall, Jackson has guided his teams to eleven NBA Championships, the most of any coach in NBA history.

A member of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Jackson established a new Lakers franchise record for regular season victories earlier this year, earning his 534th career victory with a win over the Charlotte Hornets on February 3. The fastest coach to 1,000 career victories, his total of 1,098 regular season wins ranks him fifth all-time while his .705 winning percentage is the best in league history. Additionally, Jackson ranks first all-time in NBA postseason history with a .697 winning percentage (225-98). His 225 playoff victories are also the highest postseason win total for any head coach in league history.

“We’re extremely pleased that Phil has decided to return,” said Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak. “With this most recent championship, we’ve now won five titles in the ten years he’s been our head coach and have been to the Finals in seven of those ten years, which is amazing. He’s not only the best coach for this team, but quite simply the best coach in the history of the NBA.”

Nike Kobe “Banner” Tee

Truth in numbers:

It follows 15. It precedes 17.

It’s natural. Composite. Square.

And it shows up all over the place from the moment in time cultures all across the globe started weighing, measuring, splitting, dividing and otherwise finding proper ways to quantify things.

So quantify this:

From snow-plowed Minneapolis, Minnesota to sun-soaked Los Angeles, California.

Spanning the depths of the Land of 10,000 Lakes.

Highlighted in the spotlight showers of Hollywood.

Sped up by the no-look, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Showtime ambiance.

Reignited by the seductive striking power of Black Mamba.

However you add it up:

The Lakers are set to hang Banner 16.

These Vitamin Water Kobe commercials are quite funny, yeah, a tad bit corny, but full of truth!

Here Part I that aired during the Finals…

“The Kloser”

“The Kloser Part Deux”

I find it funny, regardless of what this dude does, he gets hated like crazy. This dude winning and being one of the greatest hits many nerves. Quite entertaining, these are the same folks that think Lebron will get a ring. LOL…

Boston’s chance at a 18th title against the Lakers = [fail][klosed]
