Congratulations Los Angeles Kings!

Congratulations to the Los Angeles Kings for winning the Stanley Cup!

All I can say that it’s about time! It finally happened after being around the league for 45 years! Not to mention the failure they’ve had in the Stanley Cup finals in 1993 which was led by NHL great, Wayne Gretzky along with coach Barry Melrose. All I can say, with the drama they’ve been through this season, not to mention barely making it to the playoffs, it’s awesome to see them end the season with a storybook ending.

I’m not going to front, I’m not much of a hockey fan these days, but it’s great to see my hometown team win it all with all the odds against them. Since I know we probably won’t see this happen again, I’ll be there at the parade to celebrate the win.

Congratulations New York Giants!

The team I chose, the Patriots didn’t win, but DAMN was that one hell of a game! Don’t you agree? Both NFC and AFC Championships were exciting this season. This Super Bowl in its own right had its moments.

Eli Manning beasted! Props to him! Congratulations New York Giants! The Super Bowl 46 Champions!

Super Bowl XLVI: The New York Giants vs. The New England Patriots

It’s that time of the year that all football fans look forward to! It’s Super Bowl Sunday! Who is your pick? Eli Manning and the New York Giants or Tom Brady and the New England Patriots?

As for me, I’m going to have to go with the Pats on this one. I’m still a bit bitter with my 49er loss against the Giants. As much as I’m for the NFC, no go this time around. It’s a rematch of Super Bowl 42. Let’s see if Brady can get revenge from their loss a few seasons back!

Let’s Go 49ers!!!

Pacquiao Marquez III: Who do you think won?

Well there you have it. Manny Pacquiao has defeated Juan Manuel Marquez in an epic battle that was taken to the full limits.

Many expected Pacquiao to go for an early (6th round) knockout, but it was far from that. This bout was remiscent of the first two fights.

I’m a Pacquiao fan but I felt this fight was a lot closer in terms if score. Marquez put up a great fight! Fights usually favor the champion so I felt if Marquez wanted this victory, he woul of had to knock Pacquiao down just once. He played more of a counter punch contest. If he was able to raise his level of aggressiveness then we might have seen a different outcome.

I feel money and the world of boxing politics plays a role with this outcome. Who would of wanted to see a Pacquiao vs Marquez 4? Not I and many other boxing fans.

Now this only sets up what all boxing fans have anticipated. A Pacquiao Mayweather match that is supposedly in the works for May of 2012.

Only time will tell how this pans out. As much as I hate Mayweather, I am worried for Pacquiao judging by the way he performed earlier tonight.

If all things go as planned, 2012 will be interesting in the world of boxing.

Rest in Paradise: “Smokin’ Joe” Frazier

Rest in Paradise

“Smokin’ Joe” Frazier

January 12, 1944 – November 7, 2011

The world of boxing lost a great earlier tonight. “Smokin’ Joe” Frazier had lost his battle with liver cancer. He was only 67 years old.

The former heavyweight boxing champ is best known for his trilogy of fights against the great Muhammad Ali.  In which the third was the great Thrilla in Manila where they pummeled each other to an epic blood filled battle until they couldn’t fight no more .  Frazier was also the first to hand Ali his first ever professional lost.

May his legacy forever be remembered in the sports world.
